A walk in my shoes…
My path has taken many twists and turns. All wonderful adventures that I try to fill with pretty art. I try to tackle any problem in a creative way and try to instill this in my children as well. I want them to be visual thinkers and so I try to fill our home with inspiration and creativity in the way of lots of art and craft supplies, colorful walls, patterned fabrics, crazy food creations, beautiful objects from nature, paintings, and picture books galore. I am amazed and inspired by their imaginations!
During and after completing art school at the College for Creative Studies in Detroit Michigan, I held various jobs in Graphic Design and landed at American Greetings in Cleveland Ohio where I discovered a passion for creating repeating patterns for wrapping paper and re-discovered my love for painting and illustrating.
I have come to love the whole process of creating art for products. From concept, to art creation, to production for print (yes I hate to admit it but I really enjoy the sometimes tedious task of taking art to finish digitally). I love painting with watercolor in a loose style allowing the wet paints to bleed into each other creating beautiful patterns and swirls of color. I also like to work with photographs and combine them with illustration. I love the challenge of building a seamless repeating pattern out of a complex photo or illustration. My subject matter is a mix of colorful florals, brightly colored whimsical art for children, bugs and other critters, fruit and vegetables, holiday themes, and abstract watercolors.
As a freelance designer and illustrator with over twenty years of experience working with diverse clients, I have been able to design for a multitude of products. I enjoy keeping up with the latest trends in color, fashion and home decor. I’m enthusiastic about learning new art techniques and software. I feel so fortunate to be doing what I love and setting an example for my children to follow their dreams and find joy in all that they do.
